WHEEL ALIGNMENT

EXHAUST SYSTEMS
You may think your car’s exhaust system is designed only to reduce noise, but it is also responsible for reducing harmful emissions from entering the atmosphere. Properly functioning mufflers and exhaust systems not only sounds better, they are better – for you, your car, and the environment.
Your exhaust system really starts at the front of your car, right behind your engine. Exhaust manifolds connect to the cylinder heads, where they collect exhaust gases. As the gases move through the exhaust system, they’re first analyzed by oxygen sensors, then refined by the catalytic converter and, finally, muffled by the muffler.
PINK SLIPS
A pink slip is a road worthiness or safety inspection report for registered vehicles that is valid for 6 months from the date of issue.
An e safety check transmit the safety check results electronically to the RMS, saving time and frustration as you can then renew your registration online with myRego or over the phone rather than going into the RMS offices.
All vehicles that are more than five years old will require a pink slip / e-safety check for registration renewal. An inspection which will take between 15-20 minutes to complete.
Safety items such as blown globes, damaged wipers etc are repaired on your approval – note these items failing will result in a failed pink slip.
If your car fails the pink slip, you then have 14 days to have the defects repaired and bring it back for inspection to the same inspection centre so it can be issued with a pink slip at no extra charge. If it takes longer than 14 days for the repairs you will need to pay for another pink slip.
As an authorised vehicle inspection station, Smithfield Tyre Service & Mechanical can assist you with a pink slips for you petrol, diesel or LPG vehicle and for the boat trailer, caravan or camper van.
LOG BOOK SERVICING
A logbook service is when your car is serviced in accordance with the vehicle manufacturer specifications. It involves checking and/or replacing certain components and fluids on the vehicle at the time intervals recommended by the manufacturer.
A vehicle log book is a guide provided by the vehicle manufacturer’s containing information on the specified or recommended service requirements. It guides your mechanic on exactly what needs attention at that specific service interval. It is also used as record of services performed. Completing these services on time helps to preserve your vehicle’s re-sale value, extend the life of the car and to maintain the warranty..
